The Boys

December 10, 2005 is the day which happened to be the BEST day of my life.
When I first found out that Backstreet Boys were coming to Houston, I totally flipped my lid! I was so excited I could hardly speak. I just knew I HAD to go. I'd been promised for a long time that I'd be able to go to a Backstreet Boys concert but I have 3 others sisters who love them just as much as I do, so we always came up short with money. Luckily, I have a loving sister - she was offered a ticket one time if she got a perm. But, since she loves us SO MUCH, she turned it down. She said "it wouldn't have been fair to my sisters." Anyway, back on the REAL subject. I still remember the day when my sister called me from her boyfriend's truck. "OH MY GOD, I JUST HEARD THAT BACKSTREET BOYS ARE GOING TO BE IN THE JINGLE JAM!" (The Jingle Jam is a concert of various artists hosetd by our local Houston Radio Station every year during the Christmas Season.) When my two sisters got home, we and my other sister started dancing around, and we called our best friend, Tiffany, and told her that they were coming; she flipped her lid, too, but, of course, not like WE did! Tiffany went on Tickestmaster right away and found out prices for tickets. So CHEAP! (Of course, we weren't in the front row, but hey, we got to go!) Thirty-five dollars for a tickest is SHAWEET! So, my sister called her dad and got money for her and Jordan, my twelve year old sister. My sister Amy, (the oldest) had a job, hence she had her own money - and me, being eleven, had no way of going. Luckily, Amy payed my way in. She told me it was one of my Christmas Gifts! Let me tell you, that was the best Christmas present EVER! So, we all had our money, Tiffany included, and we were raring to go.
Sadly, one of the worst tragedies struck Tiffany's family. Their six-month old baby sister (and daughter) died December 7th, just three days before the concert. Their family and mine were torn to bits. I'll never forget when Tiffany called us and told us that Kimberly had died. I swore I was dreaming, and I wanted to wake up from the nightmare as soon as I could. Of course, it was reality, which totally blew a head gasket! I was wondering, which I highly doubted, but would Tiffany still get to, and even WANT to go to the concert? After all, we'd been looking forward to it for MONTHS and we already had our tickets. When my sisters and I left the hospital, Tiffany asked my mother if she would take the tickets. My mother asked Tiffany's mother what she should do, and Patricia (Tiffany's mom) said that my mom should take us and we should all have a good time because we were looking forward to it. Tiffany, I think, probably would have went if the baby's visitation wouldn't have been on the same day. And, I still think it would have been good for her to go, but I understand (kind of) her situation. That was one of the worst days of her, her family, mine, and my family's life.
Three days went by, and it was Concert Day. We got up extra early and got ready. We all wore our Backstreet Boys T-shirts, and of course, we had to look PRETTY for them, so we all wore makeup and whatnot. The time was getting nearer and nearer but yet it was still so far away. My sisters and I was getting anxious as we waited and watched as the clocked dragged on. Finally, we were in the car and ready to go. Tiffany's ticket went to one of my "friends" named Leigha and her friend named Darian. And of course, Patricia's ticket went to my mom and we had an extra that went to my dad. We were all so sad because Tiffany couldn't go, but yet excited at the same time. We had to go to the local grocery store, Stewarts to wait on Darian, and we were dying the whole time because the precious thing called TIME was going by SO incredibly SLOW! We went to the family dollar across the street and bought a camera and a rudolf Christmas hat that lit up when you push a button. (I'm sure you know what I am talking about!)
Finally, Darian showed up! It felt like it was hours of waiting, and we were even more anxious, exasperated, and READY to get there! We were finally in the van and off to Houston were the best band in the world were to play!
Waiting in line was one of the most exciting, but also one of the worst things ever! It felt like we were in line four centuries, but in all reality it was only 3-4 hours! We got there at almost dusk, and we were on good timing because after a while, you should have SEEN the line that formed behind us. But I am getting ahead of myself. As we got there, the radio DJ named Christina Moody was going around the line giving away FREE BACKSTREET BOYS T-SHIRTS! Sadly, it was for the very beginning of the line, and sadly, I was not up there. They were making their rounds, going around asking people who they were there to see. My sisters and I stood on the outside of the line and screamed "BACKSTREET BOYS, BACKSTREET BOYS!" over and over again - pretty much chanting their names. They spotted us, and you wouldn't believe it, THEY WALKED DOWN TO US! They had a microphone and everything. And they said, "I hear you, but tell us all who you're here for!" and we screamed "Backstreet Boys!" again. It turned out that we were on the radio! How awesome is THAT! The line started moving up a bit, and we got closer to the doorway. They were blasting music, and my sisters and I were waiting on them to play Backstreet Boys. The people who go around selling stuff came around to us, and we bought those flashy spike bracelets. SO COOL!
Finally, the time came, and everyone started entering the concert hall. We were excited as we pushed our way into the theater. I can still remember looking back at the length of the line and almost fainted. This was my first time to a concert, so I was, of course, amazed at all of the people. Even though I knew how many showed up ^__^.
